I was far too indie to go somewhere like that. Having said that I did a few nights in Ritzy's... and the Shannon... and the Room at the Top... and Filth Avenue, but for me it was properly about the Kings, the Island and the Cellar Bar.

Great times.
Proper scenes, people and music. Not like the absolute pathetic mess you see out these days.

That's it B. They cleared the dance floor area so she could perform. My mate came dancing out of the bogs across the dance floor thinking he was being clever and promptly got lobbed out.

Do you remember the massive geezer always there on a Monday night, Rob I think his name was, had his teeth filed and his toungue cut so he could look like a vampire?

Works as a claims adjuster now.

Remember being in Hollywoods on a night I wouldn't normally go there, must have been a Friday, when Manny Omoyinmi came in not long after the Villa debacle. Got chased out by loads of angry West Ham

It's actually a pub again now - an Ember Inn (and looks exactly like every other one). It was a pub when it was the Thai as well, and although I never went there, the one in Brentwood was ok as a pub still.

back then she wasn't a lesbo, I don't think she came out until the late 90s/early 00s. She used to date a mate of my brother's, Paul Edwards, who I think owned a few places like Pzazz in the day.

The place was hell on earth. I like the way around the 11.30 min point you hear a voice say......it's boring. Yes, it was.

I met Julian Dicks in there one night when he was off injured in that long spell.
Wished him well on his recovery.

Re: Hollywoods in Romford, Essex from 1995
As I don't like dance music, I probably only went there two or three times on nights with that sort of music.

Monday's on the other hand saw me there constantly for 2/3 years for some good old slam dancing. Was a Shit night if you went home without any cuts or bruises from a scuffle on the dance floor. Rage against the machine seemed to be a favourite for many to go mental too.

They always had proper cunty bouncers, especially the ginger slag.

Pound a pint and a pound for a newkie Brown ale. Disgusting stuff, but not watered down and so drunk by the bucketful.

Good times, even with Bruno Brooks originally in the decks.
